Goldfink

A short history of Goldfink brand:

The Goldfink pen brand was founded in 1910 in Berlin by Albert Fink, originally named Albert Fink Füllfederindustrie. It was not a pen manufacturer itself but rather a large Berlin-based stationery chain that contracted various German manufacturers like Melbi, Columbus, and Fend to produce their pens. Goldfink became well known for quality fountain pens including safety fillers, button fillers, and luxury models with precious metal overlays. During the 1930s, Goldfink had a strong presence in Berlin with several stores and was known for innovative designs such as the "Doppeltank" double ink reservoir system. Their pens from this era are considered comparable in quality to Montblanc. Most production was outsourced to German factories, but there are rare examples made in Italy by Zenith. The company suffered decline after World War II due to the division of Germany and loss of market importance but persisted into the early 1990s with stationery shops. In 2006, the brand was revived with a focus on handcrafted pens using traditional methods and modern components like Jowo nibs, continuing the legacy of the historic Berlin pen brand. Summary points: - Founded 1910 in Berlin by Albert Fink, large stationery retailer rather than manufacturer. - Pens made by various German factories, some German patent-protected innovations. - Popular in 1930s-1960s with safety fillers, button fillers, luxury models. - Declined post-WWII but shops lasted into 1990s. - Revived in 2006 for hand-made modern pens inspired by vintage designs. This covers the history and key characteristics of Goldfink pens.
