Orion

A short history of Orion brand:

The Orion fountain pen brand in Denmark was connected to Johannes Iversen, who started importing pens under the Orion name along with other brands like London, Gefion, Miller, and Hoover beginning around 1908. Although these pens bore English-sounding brand names, many were actually produced in Germany or assembled in Denmark. The Orion pens from the 1920s and 1930s included various filling types such as eyedropper, safety fillers, lever fillers, and button fillers. Some of the streamlined Orion pens from the 1930s were made by German manufacturers like Nielson-Werk GmbH in Hamburg-Blankenese, and the pens shared similarities with other German brands like Merkurit. Other German companies involved in producing parts or pens under this brand included Mertz & Krell (Senator), Siebert & Loven (Matador), and Hebborn & Co. (Dux). In Denmark, Orion was one of several prominent pen names competing alongside brands like Penol, Big Ben, Skribent, and Miller, mostly operated or distributed by Danish importers like Johannes Iversen. Orion pens were mainly imported or assembled using German pen parts, with some local assembly. The brand was active chiefly from the 1920s to the 1950s and was part of the Danish pen market where producers sometimes exchanged nibs and parts due to material shortages, especially during the war periods. In summary, the Danish Orion fountain pen brand was primarily an imported and partly domestically assembled line associated with Johannes Iversen starting in the early 20th century. Orion pens were mostly German-made models marketed in Denmark under this name, known for classic filling systems common in that era, with its history closely tied to the interplay of German production and Danish import and assembly networks.
